Ray St. Ray
There is klown in your future.
He appears but where you do not know
at salon, at the butcher,
in a park or motion picture show.
Is klown around the corner
or hiding in the dark beneath your bed?
Make him funny, make him sad,
just don’t make him mad.
Klowns have way to get inside your head.
There is klown in your future,
(Yes, a klown, not just some random bum!)
and that klown looks so familiar
but you can’t remember
where you know him from.
Klown is always out there
lurking in the corner of your eye.
You hope he goes away
but he shows up every day.
Is he there to make you laugh or make you cry?
On the merry-go-round
your horse is moving up and down
and you’re laughing at the klown as you go by.
But when the ride is done
you find you’re all alone
with a klown who holds a knife…
and custard pie!
When the circus comes to town
everybody loves a klown!
And when the show is gone,
what do you care?
Then one klown stays behind
and messes with your mind.
You turn to tell him “Go!”
…but nothing’s there!
There is klown in your future
so profound you don’t need a crystal ball.
There is klown in that picture
framed and hanging on your mother’s wall.
Klown is in the mirror
who seems to know exactly what you’ll do.
Look closely at his frown.
It’s only painted on.
Klown is laughing ’cause
he knows he’s really you!
Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
