”I want to do for humans, what Planet Of The Apes did for apes.”
FUTURE MAN vs. THE WRONG SIDE OF ENOUGH!
“In the future, man! Life will be so grand…”
Quietly, slowly, over the last forty years our future was stolen.
“By now we should be living like Buck Rogers, taking paid vacations on the Moon.”
The Moon! It’s been 43 years since the last human was beyond earth’s orbit. Which wouldn’t be so bad except one out of four people alive today still don’t even have toilets.
“Instead the choice we get is slave or tax dodger, TV or drugs to keep us quiet and subdued.”
The substitute was a preoccupation with credit, cheap consumer goods and the ever increasing distractions of an anxiety society.
“In Bubbleland your only job…is enjoy and consume…”
A tiny group made literally trillions of dollars from us, creating nothing. Just moving paper in their pyramid schemes.
“They’ll never work like you and me, think we’re doing fine, not that far from someone holding up a cardboard sign…”
The middle class became an endangered species as conmen, thieves and murderers taxed our tomorrows, embezzled expectations and decimated the American dream.
“Don’t pretend no one pays…In the end it’s our future that we give away!”
Leaving the rest of us holding a big bag of debt for the crumbling infrastructure of a world where we and our children will always have to work way too hard for more than we need, which will never be enough, and will only further exacerbate the problems our planet already suffers.
“If you feel what I feel, baby, you are not alone!”
Too many people are on the wrong side of enough.
I feel strongly about this. It’s the subject of a collection of my songs.
